August 28th
We had another great week in Kindergarten! The kids are getting acquainted with each other and are starting to remember each other's names. They are a very social group and are having fun playing and learning together. We are also learning ways to talk to each other when problems arise with friends.
This week we focused on:
*Rhyming words
*Capital vs lowercase letters
*Name writing with only the first letter as a capital
*Parts of a book: front cover, back cover, title, title page and table of contents
*Number ID 0-10
*Identifying dot patterns on dice
*Color and shape patterns
*Sorting objects by attributes (shapes, size, color, etc.)
Next week we will dive right into our 26 days of Alphabet Boot Camp where we will introduce a new letter each day and do a variety of fun activities with them. We will be going straight through A-Z. This will be a quick review for some students and for others it might be all new. I will make sure that the kids are getting what they need whether it's more practice with letters and sounds or they are ready to move on to building and reading words. After the 26 days of letters we will start putting it all together.
Reminders:
*No School Friday or Monday
*Send a water bottle and snack daily
Classroom helper needed:
I am looking for a parent that would like to come in on Fridays to stuff our folders. Typically, this parent comes in at 3pm on Fridays while the kids are at recess. Let me know if you are available to do this on Fridays. Thank you!
