November 22nd

 November 22nd

***Special Note about our field trip to the museum:  We just found out that Family Links is going to pay for ALL of our field trips this year to cover the cost of our student admissions!  If you already sent in your $5 for the museum, you will find it back in your child's folder today.  Thank you for supporting our Mustang's on the Move Fundraiser and THANK YOU to our Family Links!

Thank you for your kind messages sent about my mom.  After some serious complications on the first try of surgery, she was finally able to get it completed this week and is on the road to recovery!  I appreciate how well behaved the kids were while I had to be away.  Today they made her some cards to send to her.  They are a special bunch of little people!

Today we talked about how our words and actions can have an impact on other's feelings.  I drew a heart on a piece of paper representing our feelings we each have.  I then crumpled up the paper a little bit more every time we discussed words that might hurt others..."I'm not your friend"  "I don't want to play with you", etc.  until the paper was just a crumpled up ball.  We then talked about how we can use our words to make it better, but saying "I'm sorry" or "Are you ok?"  As we talked about those I started to smooth out the paper heart.  The class quickly realized that although the heart was smoothed back out, their were still wrinkles that didn't go away.  This helped them to realize that our words and actions can have a lasting impact on others.  So, if you're little ones come home talking about a crumpled heart, you'll know what that is all about.

We have continued learning all about plants!  We read about John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed and learned how he scattered seeds all across America.  Today we learned about deciduous trees and how they look in each of our 4 seasons.  Next week we will learn about evergreen trees.

We found a deciduous tree!
