Please have your child wear their blue Mustang's on the Move shirts on Monday. They do NOT need to bring a backpack on Monday. They all need to have a cold lunch and a drink with their name clearly labeled on the bag or lunchbox. Mrs. Khodl will be my sub for the day. Thank you to all our volunteers! It's always a fun and exciting trip for the kids! Please meet us at the museum by 9:45am. Our trip will be completed at 1:00pm. Reading/Phonics
We met with Mrs. Steil's third grade class on Monday. They are our new Reading Buddies! We shared our Old Time Favorites with them. We are looking forward to getting together again to read together.
This week we gained Super Powers! We learned how as readers we have special powers to help us read words, even BIG words. Pointer Power helps us to make sure that the word we point at is the word that we read. Every word gets just one point. We also learned the power of Re-Reading! Our very own Reader Man left us a super cool gift...FUN pointers to give us EXTRA Pointer Power!
As word scientists we reconstructed the alphabet chart and even invented new pictures for our charts.
Can your child read all these SNAP words?

Math
This week in math we started talking about addition. The kids practiced putting two groups together to find a new quantity. They also discovered that when given a quantity there are often several ways to split that quantity into two groups. Today we found many ways to make 9... (4 and 5, 3 and 6, 1 and 8, 2-7, 0 and 9). We will continue to explore the concept of addition within 10 into next week.
Reminders
* Send a snack daily several have been forgetting.
* Send a water bottle daily...our drinking fountain is now working, too!
* We are having Storytime instead of rest time now. Towels may remain at home. :)
