January 17th

We have continued this week, reading and learning about farms.  We have learned about the importance of animals on the farm and the different types of animals you might find on a farm.  Next week we will learn about crops.  The kids are excited to go to a real dairy farm in May!

Please note for next week:  No school Monday!  Friday, I will be taking the high school ski team to a race up north, so I will be out of the classroom.

Reading:   Our focus this week was on the letter sounds:  /u/  /w/ /j/ and /w/

Words to Practice:  the, a, I, am, and, at, if, it, is, in, as, an, am, on, not, did, can, got, big, get, had, red, ran

Tricky Words:  to, do, of, said, one, two, three, blue, yellow

Next week I will be sending home flashcards for your child to practice our sight words.  There are 30 to know this trimester.!

  
Math:  We are learning about the subtraction (-) and equal (=) symbols and how we can take a group of objects and break them apart into two or more groups.  We also our learning to solve equations using objects to represent the quantities.
