December 13th

Thank you to all our parent volunteers that were able to join us at the museum.  The kids loved exploring our past and the planetarium visit!  With another snow day this week, we will be rescheduling our Christmas concert.  Please see the updated dates and times below. 

Next week is our Holiday Spirit Week:

 Friday, December 20th -- Polar Express Day Fun 9:30-10:15am  Parents are welcome to join us during this time.

 March 12th--9:30-11:30am  Field Trip to the Grand Rapids Children's Museum

Reading:  This week we spent time reviewing our tricky words:  a    and    the          We also worked on reading CVC words and nonsense words.  Next week, we will do our winter Acadience Benchmark Assessment.  The students will need to name letters, read nonsense words, segment words into sounds and give the first sound in a word.  Each assessment the students are given one minute to complete.  Results will come home after the winter break.

Phonics/Foundational Skills:  Letters your child should be able to give the sound for and also be able to write:  m, n, p, t, d, f, v, c, g, s, z, h, i, a, o, e.

Words to Practice:  the, a, I, am, and, at, if, it, is, in, as, an, am, on, not

  

Math:  We are learning about the (+) and (=) symbols and how two or more groups of objects can be combined to make a larger sum.  We worked on different combinations of ten.
