Field Trip--Grand Rapids Public Museum!

Mark your calendar...We are going to the Grand Rapids Public Museum/Planetarium on Monday, Dec. 4th.  We will need lots of parent volunteers to meet us there!   We will be there from 9:45-1:00pm.

All parents attending will need to fill out a Volunteer Consent Form and submit it with a copy of their driver's license to the office.  We are in need of 4 parents to be the "Lead" on a group of 5 children through the museum.  These 4 parents will receive FREE admission to the museum and planetarium.

We will still need lots of other parents attending, too, so if you don't get a spot as a lead, please still plan on attending!

Math

We are learning to...

*Count and compare groups of objects up to 10. 

*Write the numbers 0-10

*Sort groups of objects by different attributes (size, color, shape, quantity)

Practice at home:  Give your child some objects at home (silverware, coins, Halloween candy, etc.).  Have your child sort them into groups, count each group and label the groups with a number that represents the quantity.  Ask your child which group has the greater/less amount.  Are their any with equal amounts?

Writing

We are learning to...

*Tell a story by illustrating

*Label our story with beginning sounds

*Retell our stories

*Form letters correctly and neatly

*We are learning to illustrate a beginning, middle and end of a story.

This week we became authors by adding words to match our illustrations.

Reminders

*  Send a snack daily.  Be sure it is separate from their lunches and easy to find.

*  Return library books every Thursday.
