May 19th

The year is winding down, but we still have some fun ahead of us!  Next week Monday is our K/1st Music Program!  Please join us at 2:00pm in the gym.  Thursday we are looking forward to you joining us for our kindergarten picnic at Creekside Park (Bowes Rd).  Please send your child with a cold lunch and pack extra water.  Looks like it's going to be hot next week.  Younger siblings are welcome to attend too!

Monday, May 22--K/1st grade Music Concert 2pm in the gym

Parents will sign out students in the classroom following the program.  

Thursday, May 25th--Kindergarten End of the Year Picnic at Creekside Park in Lowell

10:45-1:30pm  

Please pack a sack lunch and drink as we'll be eating at the park.  

Families (younger siblings included) are encouraged to attend!  Parents may sign out students after the picnic.  

SNAP Words

Keep practicing our SNAP words!  We are getting very good at recognizing them in our daily reading. 

I am finishing up final assessments next week!  The goal is to read 30 or more of our words fluently.

Math

*understand 10's and 1's with the teens

*Add and subtract within 10

Reading

*Read Consonant Vowel Consonant (CVC) words

*Blend sounds to read nonsense words

*Listen for short and long vowel sounds in words

*Identify /l/ and /r/ blends at the beginning of words

*Silent /e/ or Magic /e/

Writing

We have been learning to...

*Leave spaces between words

*Add labels to our pictures

*Spell Snap Words correctly

*Write a complete sentence with ending punctuation

*Make covers for our books

*Write all the sounds we hear in a word including the vowel sounds.

Reminders

*  Send a snack daily.  Be sure it is separate from their lunches and easy to find.

*  Return library books every Monday.
