January 6th

Welcome back and Happy New Year!  The class was able to jump right back into learning.  We would also like to welcome our newest kindergartner, Mackenzie, to our class!

Phonics

Keep practicing our SNAP words!  We are getting very good at recognizing them in our daily reading.

We have some new snap words this week:   can    to    do

Continue to practice the following words for mastery as well...

**The goal for the end of the trimester is to read 16 or more of our Snap Words.

Reading

Our "Super Powers"---Reading Strategies to help decode unknow words...

Pointer Power
Partner Power
Reread Power

We have been practicing these strategies on our own, with a partner and in our small group work.

Math

This week we spent time identifying hidden numbers on a number line.  The class is becoming very familiar with a number line from 0-20.  They are able to tell what comes before or after a specific number.
We also are learning about Number Trees.  The number trees help us to see different combinations of a number.

Reminders
*  Send a snack daily.  Be sure it is separate from their lunches and easy to find.
*  Return library books every Monday.
