Red Barn Fun!

Thank you to all our parents that helped out at our trip on Monday!  The kids had such a fun time! 

Conferences

Conference sign ups will be coming soon via Sign Up Genius.  Look for an email from the office either today or tomorrow.  They will be held on Monday, Oct. 17th and Wednesday, Oct. 19th from 4:00-8:00pm.  If either of these dates do not work with your schedule please let me know and we can schedule during one of my planning times or before school as well.  

Field Trip to the Grand Rapids Public Museum

Mark your calendars!  We will be going on another field trip on Monday, Nov. 21st to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. More information will be coming in the next few weeks.  We will be there for most of the day.  

Phonics

We were introduced to three more SNAP Words this week:

Please help your child to practice reading and writing these words at home.  

We spent time learning about letters Tt, Uu, Vv, and Ww this week.  Ask your child to give you the sound and the signal each letter makes.

Math

This week we started a new month...October!  Our Number Corner has changed to falling leaves.  The class is learning to recognize not multiple patterns.  We have leaves repeating color, orientation and also growing in quantity.

We were also introduced to the concepts of "more" and "least" and we are learning all about the teen number family.  We learned that 10, 11 and 12, while part of the teen family, they do not have the "teen" name.  These are ones we have to remember are unique.  

  

Writing

This week we wrote about our trip to the Red Barn and we made self portraits!

Reminders

*  Send a snack daily.  Be sure it is separate from their lunches and easy to find.

*  Return library books every Monday.

The Lion Heart Assembly was super fun!

Chromebooks...We are learning to login to our Chromebook and how to practice being responsible with them.  If you haven't yet sent in headphones for your child, please do so!

I hope everyone has a restful weekend and can get back to feeling better!  We have had only about a third of our class here the last 3 days.
