May 6th

Thank You SO VERY Much!!  This week of Staff Appreciation has been WONDERFUL!!
The delicious food, classroom door decorations, special gifts, take home meal and recess duty coverage was SO appreciated!! 
We all feel so blessed to have such amazing, supportive and GIVING families here at Murray Lake!

Food Fight for F.R.O.M.
Our food fight continues!  We currently have 127 points from our class.  Keep sending in those donations!  For every piece of food brought in we earn 1 point and for every $1 we bring in we earn 4 points!

Upcoming Trip for Your Calendar:

Monday, May 16th -- Field Trip to the Dairy Farm--Dairy Discovery
  Please see the field trip form in your child's folder today!  The cost of the trip is $6 per student and any parents planning to attend will need to pay $6 as well.  Cash ONLY please.  Students will need a sack lunch as we will be eating at the farm.  We will arrive at the farm at approximately 10:15am and leave by 12:45pm.   We will then be stopping at the Ice Cream Caboose and treating the kids to a cone on the way back (SHHHH!  This is a secret to the kids though!)  If you would like to take your child home after our surprise stop at the Caboose you are welcome to sign them out at that time.  Please turn in your field trip form along with the entrance fee by Wednesday, May 11th.  

Thursday, May 19th --  Field Trip to the Wittenbach/Wege Nature Center
9:30-1:30pm  Students will need a sack lunch as we will eat at the center.
Parent volunteers STILL needed!  Please email me if you are available.  

Tuesday, May 31st -- Kindergarten Picnic at Creekside Park in Lowell.
We encourage all families to pack a lunch and meet us at the park for an afternoon of fun!
Younger siblings are welcome!!  We will arrive at 10:45am and plan on eating around 11:30am.  We will head back to school at 1:00pm.  Parents are welcome to take their child home following the picnic or they may ride back to school.  

 Reading/Phonics

This week we worked hard to edit pieces of writing that were missing parts of blends.  We are becoming experts at using our Sound Power as readers and writers!

Math

We are doing lots of end-of-the-year assessing.  We also spent time working with pattern block shapes to sort, graph and follow directions.  We also made May Flowers based on our height!





Reminders

*  Send a snack daily several have been forgetting.
*  Send a water bottle daily...our drinking fountain is now working, too!
*  Return library books every Monday
